NUS President Honoured for His Achievements in Science and Leadership

		NUS President Professor Shih Choon Fong has been conferred the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Science by the Loughborough University, ranked among the top UK universities. The Honorary Degree is in recognition of Prof Shih’s contributions to materials science and engineering, and to university leadership. “As President of NUS, he has articulated the vision of NUS as a global university, and pursued that vision with vigour
and success. The University is in the top 20 of the world rankings compiled by the Times Higher Education Supplement in the UK, and in the top 10 for Engineering and IT,” said Vice-Chancellor of Loughborough University, Prof Sir David Wallace in his citation at the ceremony held on 4 September at Shangri-La Hotel. Other recipients of honorary doctorate from Loughborough include former Deputy Executive Director of the Singapore Sports Council, Mr Tan Eng Yoon and former Deputy Prime Minister Dr Tony Tan.
